As spending on health care has risen relentlessly, the treatment of private and public health insurance in estimates of both income and income distribution has increased in importance. Participants in this session will discuss several ways of including the value of health insurance in estimates of income and income distribution, including methods used by the Census Bureau and the Congressional Budget Office.
