The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) oversees the Massachusetts Expanded Learning Time (ELT) initiative and provides grants to districts for participating schools. Over the course of the initiative, there have been several notable changes related to statewide oversight of and support for the initiative. This presentation will focus on multi-year performance agreements developed to demonstrate ongoing commitment by both ESE and the ELT school/district to implement the proposed model and also describe lessons learned from providing ongoing support and monitoring of ELT implementation from the state policy perspective.
