This paper documents the rates of child under-nutrition and key child nutrition practices in Bihar, one of India’s poorest states. It draws on a recently collected large representative survey of women who gave birth in the previous year across the state, which gathered rich information on women’s practices during pregnancy and after giving birth, as well as anthropometric data on children between the ages of 6 and 12 months. We also examine the key factors associated with child under-nutrition.
