In this panel, researchers and practitioners from a variety of research, non-profit, and government organizations examine the relationship between the health of residents of public and assisted housing and interventions that are provided through or in conjunction with the housing organization. We explore the answers to questions such as: What is the health status of residents of assisted housing, and how does the provision of assisted housing affect the health of residents? Does the availability of service coordinators and nurses in a housing property reduce adverse health events for residents, and can it be a mechanism for containing health care costs? Can community health workers partner with property managers in assisted housing to reduce adverse health events related to asthma? Altogether, this body of research points to the success of pairing health interventions with assisted housing.
