Head Start is a valuable program that delivers early childhood education and comprehensive services to over one million children living in poverty, helping prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. But to maximize results for Head Start children and their families, practitioners and federal policymakers must use data in new ways to support ongoing improvement in Head Start programs.
Four organizations – Bellwether Education Partners, Results for America, the National Head Start Association, and the Volcker Alliance— came together to develop a vision for a continuous improvement approach that uses data, evidence, and evaluation to improve outcomes at all levels of the Head Start program.
This roundtable will continue the conversation with researchers and current Head Start providers. Participants will discuss future opportunities to link research to practice with Head Start grantees, state associations, and other relevant nonprofits, and will engage with practitioners to identify the types of research that would be useful to improve program practice.
