The paper aims to assemble and compare the diverse inequality measures that are available for a set of Middle Eastern and North African countries including Syria, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Jordan, Tunisia, Qatar, UAE, Yemen, Kuwait, and Libya. This paper assesses the correspondence of the estimated inequality measures from the Estimated Household Income Inequality dataset from the University of Texas Inequality Project to other inequality measures found in literature. This exercise has not been applied in the particular region and illustrates changes in income and consumption inequality over time, as well as assessing the suitability of the simple model used to estimate EHII for the countries involved.
