Through UCLA Luskin’s Master of Public Policy capstone project, our team is assessing ways to identify geographic locations and industries with high volumes of labor trafficking, and how authorities can effectively respond once areas have been detected. Labor trafficking victims have fewer legal protections than sex trafficking victims. Therefore, we narrow our efforts to serve this deeply disenfranchised population. To ensure we provide meaningful recommendations that sustainably reduce the practice of labor trafficking, we use previous literature, an analysis of local workforce and trafficking data; and interviews with survivors, local and national anti-trafficking leaders, and stakeholders associated with areas where significant trafficking occurs.
