In this study, we examine the possible nexus between military base closures and realignments on school district finance, an unexplored area of research on the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. To address potential endogeneity, we utilize differences-in-differences estimation to identify the effect of closures and realignments on school spending. Preliminary results suggest that after an initial increase in spending after the event, school spending falls at a gradual rate. The results of this study can potentially inform communities facing military cuts.
