Description of Research: The results of this discussion have important implications for the evaluation research that considers multi-site interventions, where site-level characteristics are examined as factors in impact variation. The impact of this discussion will depend on the direction the conversation takes. It could influence design of individual surveys (to capture more nuanced data on services), the analysis of multi-site trials, and the interpretation of prior studies. Overall, this discussion will benefit current and future work seeking to link program characteristics to impact magnitude. Broadly, this line of research generates hypotheses for why some programs might be more effective than others, suggesting potential avenues for program improvement and further research.
