We examine the relationship between Medicaid enrollment and financial health by linking individual-level enrollment and health data of Healthy Michigan Enrollees to their TransUnion credit reports. We use a differences in differences framework and also use inverse probability weighting to correct for selection. We find significant effects of the Medicaid expansion on reducing balances in collections, delinquencies on all credit accounts and credit card delinquencies.
