Seeking grant funding is an increasingly competitive process and preparing a successful grant application can be a challenging and time-consuming exercise. The goal of this session will be an introduction to the funding priorities of several high-profile private funders and foundations, to provide a broad overview of the grant writing and review process, the basics of what makes a good grant proposal, and the roles of the grant applicant and reviewers. This workshop has been created by program officers and senior staff members from several of the nation’s most prominent private funders and foundations that fund social, education, economic and policy research. With extensive funding experience and evaluating proposals as part of the grant-making process, panelists will discuss how to develop and write a sound grant application from the perspective of a funding organization.
