The Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) Impact Study includes 23 grantees from the first round of HPOG (2010-2015). With a 15-month follow-up survey of participants and five quarters of administrative data from the National Directory of New Hires, the study has complete short-term follow-up on its sample. This presentation will report three main sets of findings based on these data. First, it will discuss the HPOG training/service contrast, discussing how the program differed meaningfully from the counterfactual. Next, it will report on HPOG’s early impacts on career progress-related outcomes, including educational progress, credential attainment, and employment in the healthcare sector. Third, because the evaluation considers various dimensions of impact variation, the presentation will also explore the ways in which certain subgroups fare better in response to the program. This presentation will align with the release of the study’s impact report in Fall 2017.
