This presentation will discuss the practitioner perspective on running WorkAdvance, a sector-based advancement program designed to meet the needs of unemployed or low-wage workers and employers in power sectors. In 2011, Madison Strategies Group began operating the WorkAdvance model through Tulsa Community WorkAdvance, serving the transportation and manufacturing sectors. WorkAdvance was part of a national randomized controlled trial conducted by MDRC with promising results released in 2016.
The presentation will focus on operating WorkAdvance as a start-up and program implementation. Ms. Pennington, the Manager Director, will discuss key program aspects including the intensive process for screening applicants, training and coaching for career pathway planning and advancement, using technology and innovative re-engagement strategies to achieve career advancement, and working with employers to understand true career pathways and advancement opportunities for participants.
This presentation will also cover how WorkAdvance differs from other programs due to its focus on advancement and sector-based, in-demand training.
